Yes, the Academy Awards are tomorrow night and it is, quite possibly, one of my favorite nights of the year. Sad, right? I ADORE movies and this is just the culmination of all the movies represent. It is such an exciting night and I remember speeches/awards given from many years past.
In college, my roommate and I would try to go see some of the movies before the actual awards presentation. We would watch from our dorm room on the special night -- always to the end. What good is the show if you don't know what won Best Picture?
As a husband and children have entered my life, that just really isn't possible anymore though I do try to rent as many as come out on DVD ahead of time. I've "studied" as much as I can this year and have some strong picks but you just never know what will happen on Oscar night....
I'll be watching in my pj's with my key lime pie, hoping for Marion Cotillard to walk on the stage to accept her Oscar. After all, Cate Blanchett could win for best supporting -- though Amy Ryan will give her a run for her money! And, could someone please tell me when Casey Affleck got so damn cute???? He doesn't stand a chance against Javier Bardem, however. Just a few of my predictions....... I can't wait!

And so we are going under the knife again....
Another Mason update.... We went to the pediatric ENT today and he recommends surgery to remove Mason's tonsils and adnoids. He said that just by hearing him speak and breathe and feeling the size of his adnoids he is certain Mason is having sleep issues (he is very restless, all over the bed at night and you can hear him breathing/snoring heavy). He is also concerned because the size of his adnoids can affect the upper palate in his mouth which, in turn, will affect his teeth.
So, right now, the scheduled date is March 24th and he will most likely have to stay overnight for observation to ensure he drinks enough and won't be dehydrated. I am terrified of the anesthesia, but hopefully it will all be routine and we can be done with this annoyance for him!
One of my favorite pics of him:

All the things I wanted to be when I grew up
I had high ambitions as a child. I would pretty much watch anything on TV then imagine that would be my destiny. I remember "ice skating" in my socks down the hall pretending to be Dorothy Hamil, or singing with my hairbrush after watching any number of Miss America pageants, or emulating the "Clara" in "The Nutcracker." When I got older and active in drama I had Academy Award asperations. Tasting a little bit of the performing glory during high school talent shows, numerous ballet recitals, performing with the chamber singing group, and as the lead in our high school musical only prompted me to give serious consideration to which deisgner might be chosen to create my red carpet gown.
The moral of this blog is that my parents probably should have taken away the TV, I was called to the higher task of being Mommy with absolutely no regrets. :) Instead, I hang my Academy Award hopes on my children. I'll be the mom who accompanies her son(s?!) that is sitting there with a silly grin all night waiting to hear his acceptance speech where he thanks his "Mama." Look for me, I'll be wearing the latest designer. ;)

I am going to EAT HIM UP
I just have to blog about my youngest child. He is so stinkin' cute right now I want to bite him (those of you who know me well know that this is a COMPLIMENT and total figure of speech!). He is so funny. He tries to hard to keep up with brothers and it seems like he is learning something new every day.
His new favorite thing is to run around putting his finger on his nose saying "beep." He also has a word "hooce" which applies to "juice" and "shoes" -- not sure yet what else, it seems to be somewhat universal. I'm afraid Mead may have inherited the shoe obsession gene (big brother Mason has it too!). He loves to bring me shoes to put on -- this morning we had to put them on over his footie pajamas.
He loves to dance and has learned some of the dance moves to a Laurie Berkner DVD we have. He also likes to talk on the phone, both pretend phones and real phones. He will often pick a phone up and say "allo!" then chatter in baby talk.
Last week was teacher conferences and while Daddy took the big boys to the dentist, I took Mead to the conferences. He was so precious sitting beside me in a chair and imitating Mason's teacher who gestures with her hands while she talks.
So, I think I have gushed enough. I am just so in love with this little one (and, of course, the other two as well). He is a fun little baby and I want to bottle him up and keep him this age forever!

Crap for crap
I had a nice little blog typed out about marriage and how it might not be all I imagined it to be as a little girl, but it's still pretty good. Yeah, uh, CANCEL THAT! Mike has been a complete 16 year old jackass today, so I believe I'll save that blog for another time :) Maybe he'll read this one and straighten up! Nothing like a little public embarrassment.....
I do take evil pleasure in the fact that both Mason (delayed potty training so still in diapers) and Mead exploded on Mike today. Neither had "taken care of business" in several days and both of them let loose at times I was running errands. How great is that? :) Thanks boys!
